Akaroa, Banks Peninsula Wedding | Kelsey + Jeremy

Kelsey & Jeremy chose to have their wedding in the stunning Akaroa on the Banks Peninsula, It’s only an hour and half drive from Christchurch city. Although it was at the very beginning of January (summer lol) we did have torrential rain so an hour before the ceremony we had to come up with a plan b, friends of their parents had a beautiful home so we ended up having the ceremony in the lounge area, which is turned out great and had a very intimate feel about it. We managed to get a break in the rain straight afterward the ceremony and were able to go to a wee private beach area to get some great moody photos, and stopped at a gorgeous olive tree property on the way back to Blythcliffe. Blythcliffe is a stunning old homestead just an easy short flat walk to the wonderful restaurants and the main swimming beach, it’s on 3 acres of property. Kelsey & Jeremy had a marque on the lawn, and ordered in their favorite local woodfired pizzas, soooo good.

Kelsey & Jeremy met through friends and ended up flatting together and then started dating. Jeremy proposed in Akaroa for our anniversary when he surprised me with a boat ride. We went around some of the bays and had a lovely picnic before he proposed.

Why did you choose your venue?

We knew we wanted to get married in Akaroa as it was a place that held so many memories, we were lucky to have the ceremony at our family friend’s home that had a wonderful view of the bay as the backdrop. For the reception, we found the beautiful Blythcliffe Home which we immediately loved. The gardens and the building itself created the perfect atmosphere for the evening.

What was your favourite part of the day?

Everything about the day was fantastic! Even though we woke up to a day of rain and cloud, the amount of effort and help we had from our family and friends made the day even more beautiful. The rain did stop before the ceremony and we were able to go down to a small beach afterward for some photos which were really fun for the two of us. Having that time together was well-needed!

What was the easiest part of one of your vendors, building up to and on the actual day?

All of them were amazing honestly, didn’t have any issues with anything leading up to and on the day.

love words …

“Tracey was amazing to have for our wedding day, she made the whole process so effortless and relaxed and was always super easy to contact and keep in touch with during the lead-up to the day. She did an absolutely wonderful job with my makeup as well as my mum’s and sister-in-law too. She was so attentive to what we were wanting and also what we were comfortable with. The photos were absolutely stunning! We were so pleased with how she was able to capture the intimate moments after the ceremony as we were both quite camera-shy. She made us feel so relaxed and we had such a fun time, cannot thank her enough!”
